Even though the rugby season is over, pupils and staff at Walton are still busy working hard to raise money and helping others in the rugby world.
RFU Grand Prize Draw 2009/2010
Thank you to all pupils and parents who sold raffle tickets for the above draw back in March this year. We raised a tremendous £775 for school kit and equipment. Alongside this a competition was running for the pupils who raised the most amount of money.
1st place - Bradley 7.7(£20.00 HMV voucher) 2nd place - Michael 8.1(£15.00 HMV voucher) 3rd place - Dale 10.4 (£10.00 HMV voucher)
We are setting ourselves a new target of £1000 for next years draw! Please ensure you buy or sell your tickets that are sent to you to help us reach this!
Do you know... that if every pupil in the school sold one ticket at £1.00, that would raise a whopping £1273 for school equipment and if each pupil sold all ten of the tickets sent out to them, this total would jump to a massive £12,730!!!! After a few years at that rate, we might even be able to start thinking about a sports hall!!!!
Thanks again to everyone who helped out and bought or sold tickets.
DAILY MAIL MASTHEADS – FREE KIT APPEAL
Finally, after collecting an impressive 1548 mastheads off the top of Daily Mail newspapers, Walton has received its ‘free kit’. The kit consists of 11 rugby balls, cones and a carry bag for the balls.
Thanks to everyone who supported the scheme and helped the school to get some valuable equipment.
IRB SOS Kit Aid
Walton has been helping out teams and individuals in developing countries by donating old, unwanted rugby kit. We sent a kit of 20 shirts and 3 tackle shields to the collection base in the West Midlands. From here the kit will be sent out to either Africa or Eastern European countries. We are hoping that a link between Walton and the club/school receiving the kit can be set up to see how it is being used.
What is SOS Kit Aid?
SOS/iRB Kit Aid is a "green" rugby project that gives less advantaged children and adults around the world a chance to play and develop rugby in emerging nations through the collection and distribution of unused/unwanted recycled rugby kit from the UK and Ireland. Since 2000 SOS has saved nearly 60,000kgs of quality rugby kit from being thrown needlessly into scarce, environmentally damaging UK landfill sites.
