Capturing Catalonia - October 2011
Remote and unspoilt beaches, lively Catalan markets and iconic Barcelona architecture all contributed to a superb experience for Y12 Geography students on their recent fieldcourse in Spain.

From observing a praying mantis cruising a boardwalk in L'Emporda National Park and experiencing the effects of strong winds from the Pyrennes on a Costa Brava beach, to orienteering the maze of streets in Barcelonetta in search of historic sites, students were able to experience a range of environments thereby enhancing their understanding of this fascinatingly diverse region.

Fieldwork on coastal management options and urban regeneration projects enabled students to present their findings and draw their own conclusions on issues such as sustainability and social justice.
