PE DEPARTMENT

The school’s general aim is to instill a positive attitude to physical education and sport so that students are aware of its unique contribution to a full and healthy life-style.
The PE Department Handbook breaks down this general aim into a dozen specific objectives which range from body management, fitness, experiencing success and satisfaction, to challenging experiences through outdoor activities, worthwhile use of leisure time and much more.A number of colleagues, who are not members of the PE department contribute to the sports aims and achievements of the school as well.
Students successfully participate in dance festivals and in district, county, regional and national tournaments and championships. Students are provided with a range of opportunities in athletics, games, dance, gymnastics, swimming, outdoor education and healthrelated exercise.
The outside facilities include two rugby, three soccer pitches and coaching grids, four netball courts, an artificial cricket wicket and six tennis courts. A full range of clubs and team activities take place throughout the year.
GCSE is offered at Key Stage 4, Advanced Level Sports Studies and AS Level and Level Two Leadership Award in Year 12/13.
PE staff have coaching qualifications covering Rugby, Soccer, Hockey, Swimming, Netball, Athletics, Orienteering, Cricket, Gymnastics,Volleyball, Badminton, Squash, Table Tennis and Trampolining.
Outside coaches involved in the life of the school include Swimming,Tennis and Aerobics. We offer an excellent lunchtime & after school swimming programme.
The school has links with Walton Tennis Club, Milford Cricket Club, Stafford Rugby Club,Walton Chasers Orienteering, Riverside Sports Centre, Rowley Park Athletics Stadium and Cannock and Stafford Hockey Clubs, local Netball League.
