ICT Department Homework Policy
Expectations
All students will be expected to complete meaningful homework tasks at each key Stage
The department recognises the value and importance of the role of homework as a means of;
Reinforcing skills, knowledge and concepts covered in the classroom
Preparing students to undertake classroom tasks including research, data collection and planning
Extending the awareness of a topic outside of the classroom
Providing opportunities of feedback from adults in order to evaluate success and quality of their work
Reflecting on progress of a set task and explaining how and why they completed the task
Setting future targets
Implementation
We aim to support expectations by:
Setting meaningful homework tasks in accordance with the whole school homework policy. ICT homework is set as and when required
Linking homework to work covered in class
Marking homework promptly and with constructive feedback
At KS4 and 5 by offering meaningful interim assessment opportunities and feedback designed to assist students to develop and improve their work.
Responding to those students whose work is incomplete and/or fails to meet the required standard through the use of :
o Verbal reprimand
o Written feedback through homework diary
o Being placed on ICT report
o Detention used to complete the work to a satisfactory level.
o Letter home to parents.
