Stem Awards Year 9 - Visit from Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre and Birds of Prey Hospital

Mrs Langford’s Year 9 Science set were investigating “Animals in Captivity” for the second Stem Award project.

In researching their topic the students were able to gain first hand information from visiting speakers representing Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre (Eccleshall) and Birds of Prey Hospital.

They were able to observe live specimens of Tawny Owl, Barn Owl, Eagle Owl, Kestrel and an American Red-Tailed Eagle.

Students are investigating the effects of toxins in food chains as a result of the increased use of chemical pesticide.
