Gallery - Departments - Music - Early Music Demonstration - 10 January 2007Early Music (1500's) Demonstration - Wednesday 10.1.07
Year 10 students, as part of their GCSE Music course, study a module which links together music and dance from the Renaissance.
Terry Carter, from Staffordshire Performing Arts, visited the group to demonstrate what the many varied instruments and music sounded like in the 1500's and how the dances were performed.

Everyone danced an authentic Pavan (a slow, stately dance) and Galliard (very quick and lively, involving lots of jumping) from the court of Queen Elizabeth I.

Students were able to play some of the instruments pictured below and learned about how an Elizabethan lady and gentleman would be dressed.
